Brian Solex, what do I have?

I just picked up a yellow Velosolex and I need to determine what model I have.

The only information on the nameplate on the steering head is as follows:

06 1977

sn: 4600742

Does this mean that I have a model 4600?

It has bicycle type rim brakes on the front and a drum brake on the rear.

Thanks

Mike

Yes it looks just like that. I cannot see from your photo if the one shown has a tail and brake light, but mine has. It also has the brake light switch on the handlebar lever.

The engine is apart so I will have to sort that out. I have a complete 3800 set-up that I picked up a couple of years ago. Will that fit?

I read that the 4600US models have a larger generator to handle the lights, can thatm be swapped onto the 3800?

I will download the manuals and parts lists.

Thanks

Mike

Re: Brian Solex, what do I have?

The electrics on the 3800 and 4600 V2/V3 are different. The 4600 V2/V3 has a stronger flywheel and lighting/horn coil, and a third coil for the brake light. The flywheel and complete stator (coils, popints and plate) can be swapped from the 4600 V2/V3 engine onto the 3800 engine. You will also need to swap the plate on top of the cylinder head along with the decompression lever, and the carburetor, and the lift-out arm/bar.
