I love my wife's Urban Express

and I love her too, of course.

The bone stock thing can outclimb the Cosmo big time. Only the Whizzer, at 138cc can keep up and slightly overtake the Express (Edit: uphill). The auto oiler, auto choke and CVT make it stupid simple to operate.

I'm reading as much as I can and learning a lot. I must Express my gratitude for you ladies and gents that have blazed a trail for Urban newbies.

Especially, sincere thanks to Linda too. I'm learning to be a little more organized with her wiki tutorial stuff. (edited)

nice bike! yeah i really like these bikes too! I'm trying to rig a way--bigger rear luggage rack to accommodate camping gear(tent, sleeping bag,chairw/back,air mattress, cooler and small burner to make my morning coffee) I'm an old f'er so I needs more comfort when camping.

Ya know if you take 3 of the variator weights out will will climb hills much better, if you havent done so already. enjoy!!!! pic of wife please (edited)

I sure love mine too. These are the first pics I have taken of it. I've slowly been getting it to go faster and faster. My $150, 240 mile Deluxe now has 758 miles on it. I had to replace the CDI (with cheepo Chinese $5 CDI), and ignition switch ($18), brake shoes, front and rear ($30), a used petcock ($10), battery ($24). All stock, everything works perfect (choke, oiler), original tires, original belt. I milled the head, removed the air filter element, notched the vario, removed three weights, lightened the other three just a little, replaced the rear brake cable. This thing just pulls and pulls. It now does an easy 35mph. Up from 32, with just the milling. I have really low compression for one of my bikes, at only 110lbs. New rings are on the way, and I hope to do 40 on an all stock Urban Express. It has to be the most reliable moped (noped) ever. I feel that I could get anywhere on it. Now if I could just stop lifting my inside leg when I take a corner. Notice that I painted the pegs black, as they were all rusty. Looks better than the silver.

Whew!

I just got back inside after 5 hours in the sun. I'm toasted.

@ Don, Yes she dumped it going down the steep driveway, on gravel with the front brake on. Not much damage to her or the bike.

@ Gruff, I'm an old bastard too. Pic of wife??? She'd get pissed, but anyway.. the bike could use a little more cargo space indeed. I may modify the rack too.

@ Harvey, Nice looking bike sir! I've been studying about the notched vario, weights, belt and even maybe a kit. I'll probably do like most Urban owners and start with the simple/cheap stuff first. Yeah, I still try to move the pedal up when I turn.

For pervs---Pic of wife, taken 2 years ago, she's a little thinner now than in the pic.

Re: I love my wife's Urban Express

The BX31 works for adding top speed but in my experience causes the bike to lose a ton of takeoff and hill climbing ability. Maybe it's just me but I'm not sold on the BX as the best solution for adding speed- unless you live in Florida or something.. (flat ground)

definetely a flatlander or slight down hill grade improvement (more rpms will get you more) all my bikes react diferentlly depending on setup but to go to a bx31 you have to lighten your weights to gain the lowend back. all about rpms, more the better and go from there

Re: I love my wife's Urban Express

Pretty bike! I' ve always wanted to try one of those.
