I hope I can get a key...otherwise how would I unlock the seat to put gas in?

streetmates are very easy to hotwire, but as you said, that doesnt put gas in the tank thats locked under the seat.

good news! you already have a spare key, it's called a screwdriver.

I don't know tomos, but with all the other bikes I have hotwired, you can literally pull the connector off which is plugged into your ignition (key lock deal) This will possibly disable your starter. so kick start only. I have seen in the past where the lights are routed through there as well. if that is the case you will have to rewire the lights. (and if there is a battery, install an aux swicth so you can turn em off when you stop.) A locksmith (or a crafty have-not) can get you into the seat. then jam the latch so it won't close up on you.

I have a bike/lock shop looking at it today. $30 if he can do it.

And either stolen key or some kids thinking it would be funny to remove it when I went into the store. And yes... should have remembered to take it out.

$30 is too much. Did you call all the locksmiths in the yellow pages ? You should find a locksmith that will do it for $15, then talk the locksmith down to $10.

a long shot would be if you contact Tomos usa and see if thet have the key code on hand and send you out a key

Check the attachment. If I connect the pink and yellow wire..would that act as if the key was in the on position? Anything else I would have to rewire? The ignition is unplugged and sent off to a locksmith. Right now the bike runs and then headlight works but the brake light and turnsignals do not. I was hoping connecting the pink and yellow would fix that. I was able to get to the gas tank... so all I really need is the brake light/turn signals to work and I wouldnt need a key for anything.

That should be what needs to be done, but that might not be the only thing needed. You need to get a small solid wire, and remove the insulation on both ends, and put one end in each of those connectors. If there is a battery on there, you might need to remove the wire when not in use, or put a switch in between the wire.

Most simple locks have pins or cams inside that are very easy to remove (that is, once you get to the mechanism, which requires you to unlock it in the first place, which does not help you much I guess).

But it's surprisingly easy to remove tumbler pins or simple cams in locks so that in the future all you need to unlock them is any key or even a key-like piece of metal. My old Honda Civic was like this. I got so disgusted with myself for locking the keys in the car... and then later that day locking the fucking hide-a-key in the car.... that I just pulled off the door liner and attacked the lock. On mine there was a simple stamped spring-steel cir-clip holding the tumbler pin in. I pried off the cir-clip, removed the little loose tumbler pins with tweezers, and replaced the clip.

It remained like that for ten years. I loved it. Once in Savanna GA I came back to my car to find the driver's side window smashed in and my stereo pulled halfway out of the dashboard. The guy must have gotten interrupted. I thought the episode was pretty funny because it would have been a hell of a lot easier if he'd just opened the door with his car key. But what possible reason would he have for guessing that his key would work? Exactly.

Same logic works for ignition as well. Just hardwire it and find the most obscure spot on the ped possible for a toggle kill switch (not momentary).

Anyone trying to start your ride to steal it (unless they were watching you really closely when parking it) is gonna be in too big of a hurry to find a hidden kill switch. And you'll never loose your "key". Heck, I could hotwire your ped a LOT faster than I could find your hidden kill switch. Hot wiring only takes a safety pin shoved through the right two wires.
