So if the book says... .012 to .016....hobbit mind you.
What happens when they are at .012..
What happens when they are at .016.
Does the timing change, just what is going on here.

If you can get spark initiation at the correct place BTDC with 0.016 then go for that because the cam follower will slowly wear down so it will give you some elbow room. Larger the gap the less misfiring you will have, until you have too much gap then you will lose saturation and get a weedy yellowy spark.
OK.
So is the largest gap before it has a pissy spark a goal..?
What if I did .018, would that be good.
.018 is bigger then .016...
What's the biggest you ever got on a Moby??
.016 advances the timing, .012 retards timing (relative)
good if you have non-adjustable stator plates, vespa, hobbit, etc.
thank you lots...
Wayne says that at 17 thou points make the most power
But if you can't retard the stator enough to be in time then no .
Set gap first then time
I set the time then gap for fine timing because I do it by eye
The man.
If you ever get it timed right put a dab of grease on the points cam so it stays timed
