Would anyone happen to know what the dimensions are for the Hobbit sub-frame? Specifically, I'm wondering whether or not the non-drive-side mounts are in parallel, and what the offset between the front drive-side and rear drive side mounts may be.

the bottom holes for the motor mount line up straight across and the top holes for the trany and brake plate line up across. every thing else is wonky. (Sitting on the seat)- the engine is shifted to the right 1" then back to the left 3/8" in back. 4 5/8" spread. i have each side with all the dimensions if you need anything specific.
3/8" is the offset shhh! (edited)
yeah its a mess.
Scootertrash, I would be interested in your specs. CAD time! (edited)
Mars, I have a Hobbit subframe you can have if you want to figure it out. All I ask is a deal on the beefy monster subframe you create.
Oh cool that would be easier than having to take apart my daily rider to spec things up.
I was talking to Adam 'ecsuspect' about getting the actual mounting plates waterjetted, sorting out a basic design for the structure, then basically saying to people, "here, buy these plates and weld them up like this", but maybe it would be a good way to make a few extra bucks by welding them all up as a whole thing.
a legit and affordable sub-frame would be a god send to all rippin hobbits
that'd be rad, 3/8 aluminum!!
that thing looks burly as fuck
couldint you guys run vespa wheels / gearboxes?
taller ratio no?
I will personally test any subframe that you make on my hobbit.
don't drop that on your toe...
It looks like it takes 5mph off the top speed.
say what you want, but i guarantee its better than the stock tin can piece of shit going around a turn at 55mph. plus it looks better.
How about a 6061-T6 billet Hobbit swinger?
yeah i have some reinforcement plates that i made, but the swingarm i used to prototype them was all taco'd to fuck and back. haven't had time to get another subframe stripped and redesign them with the correct dimensions.
thad be about $150 in material. 24" x 14" x 3/8". martian, go over there and hack some out of one of them boats. leave a note that it went to a good cause. :)
yeah, some back up plates and angle iron rails goes a long way.
man, if someone starts making custom subframes that can fit an intake and lets say... mikuni vm18..
so far in 2012 you have that new mlm pipe, that new rear contra spring mod, trickmetric dio reeds adapter, indigan seat... wow.
makes me so glad i got a hobbit as my first/only moped.
We (myself and Trebek) got one in the works. Be sure to keep us in the loops on any subframe tech collaboration
try it on this set up
DR
Dio
24 oko with power jet
notched variator
shitty leovince circuit
Vespa wheels dont work, theyre driven the other way.
whoa, mounted backwards. rad.
no silly.. the engine spins dackwarbs
