Pulled it apart and found a sheared woodruff key, confirming that timing was shit. I went back and double checked my notes from the drz rebuild, ZERO vertical shift but small amounts of side shift is OK in connecting rod. Need to get a good torch to help with removing the small side of case still.

Next step is to read up on cutting crank and drilling intake a bit more. I'm fairly confident on drilling the intake, but am hesitant to cut the crank due to lack of knowledge.. Found this page, and know of jennings bible, but don't feel like i have the grasp of it to be chomping into the crank just yet.
Waiting for new head and base gasket from treats then I'll be set to rebuild.
