Has anyone fitted a tomos cdi to a puch maxi

alex weaver /

hi

has anyone on this forum had any luck with fitting the cdi unit and primary coil off a tomos a35 onto a puch maxi e50 engine (using the puch maxi 6 volt lighting coil and puch maxi flywheel) as i have the white primary coil and the two wire cdi unit but not the lighting coil, so hoping that a mis match of parts will still make the bike run (need to know what side to put the primary coil and what spark plug to use and what gap to run on the spark plug and timing point), thank you for any information on this subject .

I would use the whole unit, including the flywheel and lighting coils and ignition coil, etc, along with 12v bulbs. I'm assuming you'll have to modify it to work, since you're going from a 2-speed unit to a 1-speed motor,

why....? so many options for an e50 and u can go za50-a35 and vise versa but why get a 2 speed to a one? rotation is different and would set the spark curve different look at threads where people are talking about doing a za50 to an e50 points setup same idea....

Why change stock points for a restricted cdi?
