I found this in an issue of Popular Mechanics. A predecessor to the Segway???? Take A guess at the year!!!!
i can't guess the year but isn't that Ron Brown in the suit returning from a Mary Kay convention.
lol
id laff my ass off if i ever saw someone on that year....well considerin it has no name brand the guy in the pic looks like a slick willie im thinking the 60's
Crazy. I wonder if a prototype was ever built. Do you have a link to page that talks about this?
I actually scanned it right out of the magazine. That was all that was mentioned about it. I guess from what I have read the gyroscopic controls are supposed to be the major breakthrough of the Segway. I'll have to ask Dean Kamen when I see him this fall. He is supposed to speak at one of the high schools in my district. As for the year....1969. It just seems strange that the Segway was touted to be such an incredible breakthrough when something similar was thought up over 30 years ago!
Maybe it was more theoretical then, and actually implementation wasn't figured out until now.
This is absoulutely CRAZY! I have never seen anything remotely like it! I can't imagine how it would be to ride one of these!
