Given their "location" for the movie it kind of makes sense, but they could have gotten away with other scooter style bikes and been just as convincing. Especially since the movie is not set in the 80's
And I get that maybe production people couldn't keep them running for the whole time, but it isn't like hore wranglers just drop off a horse and sya they will be back on Thursday to pick it up. They stay with and care for the animal the whole time. If I was supplying mopeds to a production I would be doing the same thing.
Knowing how these movies are made I really think it was they were on an enclosed set and not actually in an open street. The 2t fumes would be toxic and cause issues with polluting the air so it would be hard to get good camera shots. Especially for the 10+ takes for getting the footage needed.
