Honda PA 50-II leaks gas out the carb

Hi all, i made a post last week about a Honda Pa 50-II i am working on, i have had bit of success, and have narrowed down the problem, it is fuel flow. Gasoline pours out of the carb when the fuel is on. any suggestions? i have cleaned the carb very well, does it sound like i should do it again? it is a horrible pain the ass to get to the carb on these, you basically have to break the bike in half. so i want to make sure that when i do it, i am fixing it for real. let me know anything that you think might help. thanks again

RE: Honda PA 50-II leaks gas out the carb

the fuel is leaking from the carb cuz the float needle is not sealing good against its seat when the float pushes against it.... remove and examine it very closely....even a slight amount of dirt on the seat will cause it to overflow.... maybe you can scrape it off (don't use anything sharp or hard ! ).... if it's not stuck on crud you will have to buy a new needle and/or seat..... prob $20..... the most painless way to get at the carb on a PA is to get some rope or tiedowns and suspend the ped with the stand just off the ground.... then remove that big bolt thru the frame right above the carb..... then carefully hoist the frame up a little till you can swing the frame out of the way to get to the carb...... be carefull of the cables ! !

Where's it leaking? From the overflowhose or is the floatbowlgasket leaking? If there's feul coming from the hose it's what Fred said or the floater has a leak. If the floatbowl is leaking from where it's screwed to the carburettor you need a new floatbowlgasket.

For $20 you can buy a perfect second hand carburettor, if you're charged $20 for that little tappet you're being ripped off.

You don't need a whole new carb, that little feul tappet Fred mentioned wont cost more then $4, a new floater won't be more than $10 and the gasket (IF you need a new one) will be about $2.50. You can also use some liquid gasket instead or (if you're desperate) some rubberpaste. But I still think it's the feultappet-thingy or a leaking floater.

A brandnew carburettor costs no more than $75 , if you want to replace it for an oversize-high-performance carburettor with apropriate inletmanifold $150.

Go to your local Honda mopeddealer, if he doesn't have or can't get a carb for you he doesn't deserve to be the official dealer.
