Houston, we have ignition!

I already updated Ron Brown with a posting.

I got the Honda C70 Passport running today. I thought I had a stuck valve or bad rings because compression readings seemed low (50-75lbs psi). I found out I was not cranking the throttle open when I took the readings. So compression was actually 120-140 cold.

Once I determined compression was OK and i didn't have a stuck valve or bad rings, I did the usual, drained and flushed the tank and replaced with fresh gas. Cleaned the carb and air filter, cleaned and gapped the plug. After about ten kicks it fired up. Now that it has been started after stitting for 2 years, it starts first kick. It runs great and top ends at about 50 mph.

Man am I glad i didn't have to tear into that engine and incur the time and expense. Now i can spend the money on a decent paint job (this is the Evil Kanivel paint job bike).

All is right with the world, Yee Haw!

Thanks to all that responded to my questions.

Re: Houston, we have ignition!

SUCCESS!! Great,Zippy! You deserve some good fortune.Hope she lasts and lasts for `ya!Those are great bikes. My friend bought 2 of them in the last year or so.But in Ohio they're not considered `peds and `ya got to get an MC license to run `em.Now don't get hurt with all that power!(:^)

Re: Houston, we have ignition!

Congrats Zippy! Way to go.

Ok here is a picture of the infamous Honda C70 with the Evil Kneveil paint job. It is a 70 cc and is registered as a motorcycle here in California.

Alright now before any cracks start coming in about it looking like a Snail break>

I took it for a spin today and it ran great, topped out at 50 mph. While I was riding a couple of Harley Guys pulled up next to me and started snickering and pointing. I flipped them off, so they asked who the hell are you, so I told them I was a member of the "Moped Army" and I had a Black Belt in using bread bags as Nunchukas (numb chucks) and also Ron Brown and Don from Ohio were personal friends of mine. They got the heck outta there after they heard that.

I am, going to repaint the bike, maybe Pink? :)

Ok let the flames begin!

one day we'll all have to go to san francisco and ride the mopeds around.i think we'd get some weird looks.

down the road ill reinstall all the lights once i get all the parts and time.

Re: Pics of the Infamous Evil Knevil Honda C70

Flames yes, definitely flames. Flames should add another 10 mph to the top end.

My son, Wes has the Suzuki OR50 on the home page of our web site. It came original with flames. It is a 1979 and had 198 miles on the odometer when we got it. it is a 50cc, 5 speed and will hit 60 mph top end.

So definitely flames!
