My cylinder is stripped

I've ridden about 50 miles with a new 70cc Parmakit cylinder kit on my Motobecane. The threads on the head that connect to my exhaust have stripped out, I'm assuming from excessive vibration from the exhaust. Which means that my exhaust does not stay on anymore. Anyone know of a solution? I hear this is common with Mbk's. Seems like nothing can go right with this bike....

Re: My cylinder is stripped

Drill em out and use allen bolts?

Re: My cylinder is stripped

I think he is talking about the exhaust threads on his cylinder, not anything having to do with the head.

Re: My cylinder is stripped

^ That dude probably doesn't ride a moby.

Improvise a clamping device that will wrap around the entire head.

I've seel people weld loops and brackets onto the pipe, then secure it to the head with a long spring or cable wrapped from one side to the other.

Re: My cylinder is stripped

Google image search "motobecane moped exhaust stripped" and look at the first picture that comes up. You want something like that.

Re: My cylinder is stripped

Stripped threads is caused by your ball joint being loose AND vibrating.

Re: My cylinder is stripped

worst. exhaust. attachment. design. ever.

Re: My cylinder is stripped

Drill it out, tap it bigger, helicoil it? I had to do that to an Fa50.

Re: My cylinder is stripped

Hehe, you can tell which people have never dealt with Moby exhaust. Quarterkick carries a bracket to rectify this problem.
