What's your preferred method? My high-comp 103 requires some strength to turn over, cranks have bent in over time. I know it involves some kind of breaker bar, but I'm really not sure what to look for.
thanks!

I preheat them to 450 degrees in a toaster over first. then I break out the torch. Without preheating, you can go through a bit of gas. Big vise and lead pipe. I wouldn't straighten it out on the bike, take it off first, or you could damage the frame.
^what he said
on bikes with external pedal shafts, i just throw on a big breaker bar and go for it. no heat.
on bikes with internal pedal shafts, i take the arms off and use a vice.

WAT? I thought they were all "internal," explain please. Once a creature at 77 helped me with mine, but it's been forever, and I honestly forget what he used.
Internal means Minarelli, Tomos, etc where the pedal shaft is in through the case.
external is like a Puch, Moby, Peugeot, etc where the pedal shaft goes through the frame (not the motor)
Mapp Gas, vise, and a big ass sledge hammer with a short handle works great. heat it where you want to bend it with Mapp gas so that the place to bend gets hot fast while the rest stays cool, then give it one good whack.
internal: shaft inside the engine cases, like tomos and minarelli.
external: shaft outside the engine cases, like vespa and motobecane.
i posted before i read. aaron explained it well before i did. (edited)
Vices and sledge hammers are definately more manly.
On a bike with pedals through the frame, just take the back half a stock puch exhaust pipe, slip it on over the pedal arm and push or pull with someone holding the bike. No heat, works great. Finally, a good use for all those stock pipes lying around.
just did this - used a propane torch, a pipe on one end, and a big ass pipe wrench on the other and it worked great. wear some leather or something too.
