Bought it today. Runs and complete, but don't know anything outside of that. Guy says it doesn't need premix and hes been riding like that for a while, but don't really trust him. Its maybe late 70s i think. 3 speeds with a weird ass shifter. Anyone have any ideas? premix or no?

i'm not sure if this question asks if it is a 2T or a 4T engine, or if it asks about pre-mix vs. oil injection.
on a 2T engine, the carb and exhaust typically sit lower and come out of the cylinder. on a 4T engine, they typically sit higher and come out of the head, which will be more complex-looking because it has valves and maybe a cam.
your bike has a 2T engine.
judging by the picture and the bike's age, it is probably pre-mix. if it has an oil injection system, it will have a small oil tank, maybe under the seat, with two lines coming off of it. one line would go to a pump somewhere on the engine (flywheel area), and the other would go to the intake/carb area.
yeah supposedly the tool set under the seat was the oil reserve. Previous owner was an idiot. Hes revving it in front of me saying wow look no smoke
