TTLX had a loose main jet......

finally got pissed & dropped the engine, tapped out the exhaust and carb bolt threads (cuz the factory tap job stank) and disassembled the carb. Lo and behold the main jet was loose and turning in its threads, cleaned it all out, tightened up the main jet, put it all back 2gether and it runs fine again.

I just tested compression on the bike (just bought a guage) and it read 85psi (6 kg/cm2) is that normal for an A3? cant find compression specs listed anywhere in the shop manual.

some1 also posted here about cutting the air box and adding a larger main jet for more power, does this really provide that much of an increase? (is it worthwhile?)

since i have a Dellorto on my A3 and parts are easy 2 get im up2 doin it.

Modifying the airbox, and adding a bigger jet will only work, if your airbox is restrictive.

To check, run the bike without the airbox. If your ped starts running lean, you will know that the airbox is restrictive. Running lean means too much air, and too much air can cause it to bog. Do a plug chop to check though.

Yeah, 85psi is about right, I dunno the exact specs either, save that it's like 9:1 (whatever that means).

I wouldn't bother, it's way too much hassle for what little bit you'd get out of it.

You could get the same result by pulling the stock exhaust baffle.

You could get the same result but pulling the stock exhaust baffle.
