My batavus died :(

Hey, I have a 1976 batavus...today when I was riding it...It died...and wouldn't start I took the spark plug out and that looked pretty bad so I replaced it and it still won't start...I also tested for a spark...there is one...Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Did you check the exaust? It might be clogged. What happens when you try to start it?

Re: My batavus died :(

Try filling the tank all of the way up. Sometimes peds don't like it when the gas gets low. If that's not it, check your exhaust, like VespaCiao said, and also clean your carb. Make sure your jet isn't clogged. Also, make sure the new spark plug has the correct gap. It can't be that serious, so don't worry too much. We'll figure it out. :)

Re: My batavus died :(

When I try to start it...all it does is turn over...I have just cleaned the carb a few weeks ago and I've never had a problem with low gas. OH well its night now so I'll try some stuff tomorrow.

Re: My batavus died :(

Dude, my Puch never used to do it, and all of the sudden one day it just died. I had gas in it but it was low. I filled it up and walla! fixed. try it and see.

Re: My batavus died :(

I'll try it today..Thanks

Re: My batavus died :(

I tried your gas thing...that didn't work but I did fix it..The main jet was clogged

Thanks Crisis and Vespa

Re: My batavus died :(

90 percent of the time a moped that suddenly died just needs a carb cleaning. a small speck of dust that gets in the carb through the airbox will clog you up. if you ride a lot, just clean your carb every once a week or so.
