Spark Plug opinions?

I was wondering what people's opinions were on spark plugs. any brands you swear by, or that you swear at?

RE: Spark Plug opinions?

I have Japanese motorcycles......so I use japanese spark plugs......NGK's....occaisionally ND's.....and sometimes Champions, but not if I can find NGK's

I use NGK's for EVERYTHING. My car is Japanese, and NGK's seem to work the best in it. My 78 Puch had a Champion in it, but I replaced it with an NGK. They are a little more expensive, but they last longer and are built better.

RE: Spark Plug opinions?

NGK is really good, I drive a Honda SS50Z, all motorvehikles by Honda use NGK by standard. Honda also uses NGK for racing.

NGK for japan, Bosch for german/european. I personally DON"T use champions in anything with an aluminum head because I have had so many sieze and strip out the threads when they are removed.

Personally, I really hate the NGKs...but that's due to repeated problems with them in my old Tomos more than anything else, they may well be an ok plug, but the Bullet sure did not like them.

Champions run pretty good, but don't EVER get the canadian made ones, because they do have many of the problems described by others in this thread.

(US-Made champion platinums seem to do pretty good)

If you can get them, Bosch Platinums are probably the best bet, at least for Euro 'peds.

Splitfires sound like a good idea on paper, but after asking around and talking to people - they don't do very nice things to yer 'ped, on average.....opinions on the four-way type plugs vary widely.

Usually, however...getting a plug to work is mostly a matter of dealing with the idiosyncracies of whatever bike you have, 'peds are very individual in that way, as you can have two of them with nearly sequential VINs, and yet each will work better with a different plug - it's mostly a matter of getting the one that seems to work best in your bike, and oft-times that's down to trial and error.

thanks for the input guys, this is stuff, i have heard mostly before, but solidify's my ideas, it seems that trial and error is the only true test.

I use a rare Ngk plug for my dax, i tryed out the original ones and the cant stand the preassure the higly tuned engine puts on them. Then i tryed a Delco plug wich is ariginal for a 750 ccm kawasaki motorbike, it only lasted

RE: Spark Plug opinions?

Use an NGK C7HSA for a standard Dax. If the temperature of the combustion chamber differs a lot from standard you should try a 6 or 8. My Honda SS50 (same engine, only small differences) is tuned for 10000 rpm (7000 rpm is standard) and runs best with a 7.

the NGK C7HSA, is no macth too the sparkplug from an 125 ccm yamaha ATV and thats the end of it. i tried both and the C7HSA only can only last about a week the ATV sparkplug is a hell lot better.
