so far, what have you tried? did it have spark before? if you did ... and just now lost it... check for loose wires. also, a burned out tailight (vespa wiring needs a working light to run).
Go here and read for a basic troubleshooting guide..
I have never gotten a spark on it. I am not sure if the taillight works. How can I test this. I know the headlight works cause when i started peddaling it it came on a little bit. I thank you all for your help.

Just buy a new bulb, they are less thatn 2 bucks for a 2 pack. Just take the old bulb to any parts store and match it up.
Also, make sure your kill switch is in the RUN position, and not the OFF.
Where is the kill switch? How will I know if it is in the run or off position? Thanks

In order for us to help you, you must help us. Please answer a few questions.
Does your Ciao have a black switch on top of the headlight? If it does this is your ignition/headlight switch. OFF postion is 11 oclock, IGNITION ON is at 12 oclock and IGNITION/HEADLIGHT ON is at 1 oclock position. You must ALSO set the switch on the right handle bar to RUN.
If it has no black switch on top of the headlight you only need to have the switch on the right handle bar in the RUN position.
Is the gas petcock on the right side of the bike turned straight up or straight down?
Did you mix 2.5 ounces of 2 cycle motor oil with a gallon of gas and pour some of it in the tank?
With each attempt to start it, you must push the choke down. Thin silver piece of metal, right side of the bike, under the center cover. It should pop up each time you twist the throttle.
Your tail light bulb should have two filaments in it. When you take it out and hold it up to the light can you see two complete filaments or is one burned out? Replace the bulb if one or more is burned out. Look on the side of the brass bulb casing for the volts and watts. If you can't find a bulb locally email me or contact www.vespasupershop.com
Good luck
Yes my CIAO has a switch on top of the headlight. I can turn it to 11 o clock and 12 o clock but not 1. It was at 12 when the light came on, and has been there ever since i got it. I dont have a switch on my handlebar. Yes I mixed the gas. I am not sure what you are asking with the gas petcock, Im not sure what that is. Yes the choke is on. Thanks

P.S. - Sorry about the ignorance, but Ive gotta start somewhere.
Correction----I can turn it 12 and 1 o clock but not 11. I just checked the bulb. It seems to be in good condition.

VespaCiao. The petcock is the valve which is screwed into the gas tank bottom on most mopeds. He was checking to see if you had it in the `reserve' or `on' or `off' position. If you don't get gas thru the petcock, the filter that fits into it inside the tank may be clogged with debris.Be careful when removing the petcock,as raw gas will go everywhere AND some have reverse(left-hand)threads.Have you checked down at the carb to see if gas is flowing into the carb?Zippy will get back with you ,I'm sure.Fred's guide has all this in it,too.
Do you know any history about tthe bike. Was it running when you bought it? Or did you see it start and run? It sounds like you are missing the RUN/STOP switch or sometimes referred to as the KILL switch. Do you see any loose wires on or near the right handle bar or coming out of the head light?
Does the moped have turn signals or does it look like it had turn signals?
No there are no obvious wires that arent connected to anything. I am not sure the wires are connected to the engine properly and there are turn signals with the switch on the left handlebar. There is a horn button on the left handlebar but that is all that i see. Maybe I can get some pics taken and scanned.
Thanks

pull your plug wire, hold the tip of it, grab hold of something metalic (the front end tube) and kick the starter pedal.
if you get a jolt.....your electrical system is working,...pull the plug, squirt something flamible in the hole, reinstall plug , try again.
no response?
reread freds tune up guide in resourses.....
my spellcheck is in the bottom of this wine bottle, i'll get to it evebntually,...hic.
gudnite :{)
