still no luck...

VespaCIAO /

I have got a new engine now that turns over thanks to Steven Morse. I am now having trouble with the clutch. The engine will turn but has slow spots, the clutch won't open up and catch the innerwheel for some reason. I checked the springs and they will open. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Re: still no luck...

Be sure the linings of the starter clutch and their contact surface on the drum are completly grease free. Use brake parts cleaner spray on them after disassembling that clutch to verify the condition of the items.

chris-

do you still have the engine out of the bike and are trying to do this by hand? or are you having the problem when you are pedaling the moped? did you find out if anything went wrong after the motor got dropped?

Re: still no luck...

Disassemble the clutch, and clean the pads with sandpaper. Then sand out the clutch housing, reassemble, and try again. And be sure to let us know if our suggestions work, if they dont we will try again!

The engine is in the ped and no luck. Thanks for the ideas I will be sure to try them and give feedback. I had a little luck and would like to know if any of you have yahoo, aol or msn messengers to chat on and talk direct. I appreciate the help and many more suggestions are requested.
