Errrr....Clutch

Hey guys...I am having troubles with my clutch...The moped is a 1976 batavus. I will include a picture of the clutch assembly. Well anyway when I stop quickly or just stop slowy sometimes (more so now than before) the clutch engages and causes the bike to die or if I throttle it right before its about to die and go again...it disgages and the bike runs fine. What could be causing this and what should I do to fix it. Thanks

yeah, that's what my moped seemed to do, because there wasn't much oil in the gearbox. That could be the problem, the gears and clutch doing wierd things because there isn't enough lubrication... gotta watch that.

Re: Errrr....Clutch

take i apart and check the clutch plate and the rest of it for rust

Re: Errrr....Clutch

Thanks for the help but where should I oil it exactly?

Re: Errrr....Clutch

what kind of oil should i use?

Re: Errrr....Clutch

Ron Brown /

Nick,

I'm assuming this is an external clutch.

Take it apart.

Clean everything that needs cleaning, there are some sliding, metal to metal surfaces where a VERY thin film of grease will help and there is a bearing in the clutch flywheel you should clean and grease. Use a wire brush, emery cloth, wire wool etc. to clean the clutch friction surfaces til they are clean and reasonably rust free.

Put it back together.

Ron
