Just killin' a little time since the forum's slowed as people eat dinner I guess.I learned how NICE a WINDSHIELD makes it to ride in weather below 50 degrees and down to 34 degrees so far.I bought a slightly used one at Handy Bikes on my trip up there the other day,and I love the way it sets forward and doesn't interfere with anything on the `ped.Sure is nice not wearing that full face(ski-type)cover and not worrying about thrown gravel and stuff hittin' you.By the way,does anyone know of the best way to clear up a few scratches on an acrylic windshield,or the best product to do it and where to get it?THANKS!

I also meant to include that the first trip I took it on was 80+ miles and it never vibrated once.It's a universal type and I think I'll invest in a new one pretty soon for another Motomarina I ride.

You've convinced me to get one, Don.

Tomorrow it will only get up to 74 and if it keeps up soon the daytime temp will only be going up to the 60s.

It also might rain again next week. :-)

Nope. Southern California.

All the bad weather is staying in northern CA.

And gas has gone down to as low as 1.15!

Same here if yo shop around $.95 per gal in SC

Lets hope that Mexico and Russia keep to their guns on not slowing production. The weather has had an effect on the price as well. Mild tem, not as much furnace fuel. More of that high grade jet fuel around too.

Does it create much drag? Can you tell a differance in your top speed. I had thought about getting one but wasn't sure if it would have too much of an effect on the top speed. I had had a windsheald on a motorcycle once but took it off because of vibration (from 55 and up. I thought it was going to fly off and take me with it at 70).

I wonder if some of the ones in JC Whitney would fit a moped?

Anyone else own one or know of the best place to look? I wouldn't mind having one if the price aint too bad. I'm planning on riding my moped throughout the winter as long as there is no ice. (SC shuts down when it snows. Snow plow? Salt truck? Go to work if theres snow on the ground?) People down here play bumper cars when it freezes or snows. They'll get right up on your ass to.

Right,Jim! I don't know approx. how old you are,but I'm nearly 50 and I just don't like that cold air the way I used to.A windshield sure makes a difference.One thing about rain:I'm gonna try that `rain vision' stuff that I use on cars,but I set the windshield at a height that I could straighten up and look over it if necessary to do so in a fog or something.

You know, that's a good point Jamie,on furnace fuel.I hadn't thought of that! The oil companies are experiencing more of a glut due to uncommonly warm weather.So beware about 2 weeks into a cold snap!Right?

Hi,Jamie! No,if you install it at a tilt,you probably won't notice much drag.Besides,if you hit a 25mph headwind at 38 degrees F.,you probably would rather sacrifice a couple mph for the comfort it affords.But tilting it makes a WORLD of difference as I found out.I first mounted it straight up,even though it has a swept-back design that breaks in the middle.I was going into a 15-20 mph headwind and I noticed it so much that I rode back to the house 2 miles to change the angle.That's all it took.Of course,as I've mentioned before,I'm a broad-shouldered heavy guy,and I resist the wind too much as it is,so maybe a thin person would notice the drag a lot more.You can call Handy Bikes and see if they still have them new for 89.00 (614-299-0550)or you can contact Mopedwarehouse about it.I had held off getting one because I thought it would interfere with my toolbag and flashlight holder(in case of headlight failure),but it sets far in front of those and it never vibrated in the least.So far I'm very pleased I bought it.

Well,Paul,it looks like everybody is out havin' fun today except me.I have to work today on one of the finest mopeding days out there I've seen yet.ARRGGHHH! About that J.C. Whitney windshield;I'll look them up but when I looked the other day,their prices seemed too high.

Well,I looked again and they only have one type which is tall enough for me to buy.That's the `High Visibility Windshield' (SKU# 02ZX8844A)and it's not as nice as mine `cause mine is hinged in the middle to sweep back more,and mine's lightly tinted.BUT it's only 54.98 + shipping.The others advertised are little 14" and 16" high jobbies that you would probably have to crouch on a moped to get any wind relief.I'd check with Mopedwarehouse first.
