<HTML>It's very easy to see if you're using the right plug:

If is it brownish, maybe with a hint of grey and without any deposits on it, than you've got the right plug, other plugs will get damped or cracked because of wrong heatvalues. The only kind of plug that improves performance is a threespike, the improvement is marginal and the price is astronomic (for a plug), so you're best off just using the plug with the right heatvalue.
