Pet Peeve

Maybe it's because I love mopeds, but my pet peeve is the bikes that are as big as small cars.

I mean, really. Have you seen some of these monsters? If you fell over, you'd need 2 people just to stand your bike up.

How big can you make a 2 wheeled vehicle before it gets stupid?

People can ride and enjoy whatever they want, but I think some of those large bikes are just plain foolish.

Sometimes, "Less is More".

Re: Pet Peeve

I saw a guy that had one of those decked out goldwings stop at a light and put his foot in a pothole. The bike fell over and stopped traffic for a while. They couldn't get the bike up. there were 3 fellows trying to get it up. Not until a 4th guy came up to the scene could they get the bike standing again (the fourth guy looked like he could have picked the damn thing up himself 'Hulk')

If you want to feel like your in a car but still want the wind in your face, buy a convertable. If you want to race like a bat outa hell and go splat when you crash, get a rice rocket. If you want to have fun, enjoy the ride and get around 100mpg, get a moped.

There is always someone wanting to overdo things. I'm sure you've seen the trucks that have to have step ladders to get into or cars that have less than 2" of clearance. People buy stuff like this and they buy cars with only 2 wheels. I figure, its their money, let em piss it away like they want. Just don't say anything to me when I'm spending $1.25 at the gas pump to fill er up!!

Ron Brown /

Wayne,

Don't knock it just because you don't like it.

Remember that you have much more in common with anyone on two wheels than you have with those on four wheels.

Ron

Re: Pet Peeve

You certainly are entitled to your opinion Wayne, I have several bikes a 95 Honda Magna, and 1963 Cushman silver eagle , a lil'indian minibike, a Hyosung scooter, and a 20 dollar piece of crap Puch, and I like them all!! If the Puch ran I sure wouldn't take it out of town or the scooter, but I'd really love to build a 1940 Indian 4 cylinder,, big a bike as there is!!!!

Jim,

I sat on one of those once, I could reach the handlebars but my arms were not long enough to turn them.

I think the optional training wheels should be standard. : )

GJ.... take the URL (that collection of letters/numbers/symbols that is the "address") and put it into this 'command'.

(<)IMG src="place your URL here gimmyjimmy"(>)

(except... remove the ( ) from the end brackets... and copy all the spaces and symbols exactly as I wrote them... the only 'space' is between IMG and src.

Re: Pet Peeve

Ron Brown /

Fred,

I'm disapointed. : (

I was looking forward to you finding a pic of that "locomotive" style motorcycle that you see at events and swap meets occasionally.

I think it now belongs to Wallneck, as in Cycle Trader or someone similar in the industry.

Re: Pet Peeve

Thanks Clint, I'll try it next time.

Loco-bike Ron?

Re: Pet Peeve

I know it wasn't for me but thanks, I've wondered how you did that.

Just trying to see if I read your instructions right

Re: Pet Peeve

For a "Tank" that is a nice looking bike. when I mention the "Monster" bikes, I'm thinking specifically of the Goldwing style bikes. That seems like overkill. The pic Jamie posted is a nice looking machine.

Re: Pet Peeve

Wayne,

I'm with you all the way. How 'bout this

6people.jpg

Roberto.........

.........that's a heck of a lot of bloodshed waiting to happen.Don't like it.Might be safe on a golf course,IF you add a top.

And if you don't know the URL

then find the pic you want to move...

.. and right click on it.

.. then select 'properties'.

.. then highlight the URL by swiping the cursor with the left button held down

.. then while leaving the cursor on the highlighted part

.. right click

.. select copy

then delete the 'property' page

then go to wherever you want to paste it

Thats a V-8 you know ?

Yeah... a V8 car engine... like a 302 or 350cu in... with a wheelbase about a foot longer (or more) than a Goldwing... heavier too I think.

Its just like a moped though.. cuz it has a single speed tranny

well... actually it has a hand operated clutch I think.. so its not quite the same as a ped... that and the 170 mph top speed ... <IMG src="http://www.cycleworld.com/ubb/NonCGI/eek.gif">; ...

Re: that's Road Dog

Fred:

Buzz Walneck was fortunate to find and obtain that neat old one off bike built back in the 60's. I remember seeing the poster in motorcycle shops way back when and wondering what happened to it.

Hope to find a picture to post.

Jim

Re: And if you don't know the URL

How much do I owe for this lesson?

That is great!

I wanted to try it out. The moped army thing was the closest image

Re: that's Road Dog

Ron Brown /

Jim,

That's the one, I saw it a few years ago at Mid-Ohio. I beam frame with automotive drive train, weighed over a ton as I recall and was equipped with retactable training wheels and hydraulic jacks to right it if it fell over.

I would think an EMS escort would be mandatory in case it fell on you or you squashed pedestrians or a compact car.

Ron

Now that's a bike!

Ron Brown /

Thanks Jim, the name got me to this story:

Pic of Roadog

Re: Pic of Roadog

Fred, that may be the only cycle I would be afraid to pay `chicken' with in my F-250.WHAT A MONSTROSITY !!

Re: Pic of Roadog

Fred:

That is the famous Road Dog alright. I thing Buzz has copies of the original poster from the 60's that he sells.

I'm glad to he was the one that got it. If you look closely at the tops of the forks, it looks like Buzz was able to locate a pair of original Busch Bavarian Beer cans to replace the ones missing, as in the original poster.
