Crisis Cincinnati took this picture of Matt's ankle, after a car slammed into Matt's side when he was riding his Puch. The engine cylinder head burned the hell out of his ankle in the split second they touched, before Matt was thrown off the bike.
Check out the swelling of the ankle. His knee has greater swelling.
Matt gets better every day, and Cincinnati moped enthusiasts are still riding as often as we can.

That will leave an interesting scar. I'm glad thats not as bad as it could have been (no protruding bones and such)

Ron, that was Matt from Cincinnati who got hit by the car, just to clarify, but yeah he got hit directly from the side by a car.
The interesting thing is that he got hit on the LEFT side, and that's his right ankle. The bike slammed to the right so hard, it did that, all before throwing him off the ped.

Yes, I realized that Matt was the victim and Cris the photographer. It is strange how injuries can occur in a crash that seem illogical at first.
Check Matt's right sneaker for evidence that it was pinned to the ground momentarily, that would allow the weight of the ped to imprint the cylinder in his ankle and wrench his knee befor throwing him off.

Yeah, Ron, that definitely could have been what happened.
Crazy what can happen, and boots and good pants are definitely a good idea. We all keep telling Matt he's fortunate, could have been worse.
