Derbi Mopeds

Steve Crosland /

<HTML>Unless I missed it I have seen no mention of Derbi Mopeds. I have been a bike rider for many years owning bikes from 50cc to 1100cc and I must say that the Derbi Moped was a blast. I lived on a small island off the coast of California, and due to the local regulations we could only have a 50cc bike with pedals.

These bikes are made in Spain they are very durable and when tuned properly they will scoot down the road.

I owned 2 Derbi Variants, and a Derbi Motocross Moped. The dirt moped looked like a Bultaco Frame witha 50cc motor and moped pedals.

Of all of the Mopeds I have ever ridden these were by far the most powerful. Check out their website i think it is www.derbi.com

RE: Derbi Mopeds

<HTML> ALL TRUE! The first moped I rode was a Derbi, since then every other brand has been a dissapointment.

They have excellnt take-off, and good top end. I have a few that we have rode for years, and besides tires & a throttle cable, have had no problems.

I am interested in finding a '86-ish Laguna Sport model. Let me know if you have one to sell.

Thanks Scott H</HTML>

<HTML>Absoluteley true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a Bultaco Lobito, which is a derbi senda only with better components. The lobito is the best supermotard 50cc bike, i've been able to do spectacular jumps in the race course next to my house. I'm planning to post fotods of them on the net. Visit </HTML>

RE: Derbi Mopeds

<HTML>hey there chief. um i have a 1989 derbi variant sport ped and ya i have to agree they are really nice peds. of all the ones i've ridden they're prolly my favorite. only problem is it is close to impossible to get replacement parts for the older models. right now mine is busted up again and i'm not even sure what's wrong with it this time. recently i'm in the market of finding another moped/mopeds in an attempt to avoid the hassles of the breakage/inability to make it street legal here in pennsylvania.

<HTML>The replacement for Derbi on Catalina Island is the Tomos. We've had them in the interior and they work. I have supplied Derbi parts and service for the last 15 years.

<HTML>DERBI ARE SHIT!!!!!!!

They are too weak to tune, and their engine is also not the best!

Try out APRILIA and let us see, if you still say, that DERBI are good mopeds!

mfg Ed Hunter

P.S.: Maybe you write back? I would like to hear some good reasons fo buying a DERBI!</HTML>

RE: Derbi Mopeds

<HTML>not that I'm the most experienced rider/repairer but I like the puch myself.

with just a little effort they can be great mopeds in a general moped sense.

straight foward chain driven air cooled 2stroke nothing fancy

simple is good

2hp

2speed

32 miles an hour stock

(but not the best looking)

I believe the burden of proof is on 'mfg Ed Hunter' to produce a quality specimen Aprilia moped, or at least repop some cranks for the 'inferior' Derbi
