Question on Puch Maxie Luxe

I read on one of the post from a while back about taking off the white tube that goes from the back of the air filter into the frame on a Puch Maxi. I did this but when i would floor it the engine semed to bogg out until i let off almost to about half throttle then it would be Ok. Even going down a hill the engine would do that same. I put the tube back on and it runs fine. Now my question is, who said it would make it faster to remove this part?

BTW- are there any other restrictors on a 1978 Puch Maxi Luxe that can be removed?

Well, when I was using that airbox, i cut the white tube, make it half the length, this makes the mixture better when you have a biturbo pipe. It made a real noticeable increase when i did this. Taking the tube out makes the engine run lean, not giving it enough fuel causing it to bog.Trac Man wrote:

Mine has that tube too, but I can't figure out what it is for. Does anyone know?

From what I have read It is just to restrict speed. I took it off of my MKII sport and it ran MUCH better. However when I took it off of my Puch Magnum it ran MUCH worse. I think that you will need to re-jet in order to get increased performance with it removed on your Maxi Luxe
