<HTML> I'd like to add that also furthering the decline of the moped was the fact that the oil "shortages" of the '70's had ended and there was no longer a push to conserve fuel. Honda and the other Japanese makers started producing scooters with electric start and oil injection making the mopeds seem primitive by comparison. And they were, but this is the appeal of the moped: mechanical simplicity. The first time these scooter owners had to have major service done on their machines, they found out the price of the conveniences in labor charges!</HTML>
