What does everyone do in their job/career, etc...
I do Technical Support for a medium sized ISP in Cumberland, MD. http://www.hereintown.net.
I'm also a full time Computer Science Student at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, MD.

im unemployed, but im only 16 so i really dont need a job but im going to get one soon
McDonalds was actually my first "real" job..... everyone starts there....
I was there for 8 months.... I could whip up 100 BigMacs in 8 Minutes by the time I quit to come work here at TWR Communications.

from june to august i worked at a carpet store , i was the warehouse manager and i was the only warehouse guy who knew how to drive a forklift (reson why i bacame warehouse manager) and im only 16 and i had to boss around 5 other people
i actually want to get my CDL lisence so i can drive just about any big truck or tractor, because in my area they are always looking for CDL drivers
i teach political science at wmu ... but mostly i sit around coffee shops and put off working on my dissertation.

I'm currently "in between jobs" and have been for about 9 months. I used to do carpentry with my dad, but I quit because working with your dad just isn't very pleasant after awhile, because everyone else can go home and bitch about their boss, but I have to live with mine. I have 30 thousand dollars in the bank (well, now it's about 20 thousand) from an out of court settlement when I was almost killed by a drunk driver. Ive been living off than since I quit my job. I should probably go to college or something, but who has that kind of time :)
Some college is good I guess but I hate the formal education system. Grades and such suck ass and they only promote cheating and the wrong type of competition, but that paper means the difference between "May I take your order" or something better... it's sad. There are so many people out there who are very gifted in areas and just don't want to go to school, but they get screwed anyway....
That's a whole other story tho....
(I guess college works for some people, but I'm very disgusted with it myself)...
I work in insurance, an I go to school as a hobby. Working on a Philosophy degree and a history degree. I already rec'd my English degree.
WoW! I am about the only old fart here... I was owner operater of my own auto repair and inspection station, now disabled with bad legs and back, I work in my 2 car garage repairing mopeds and resaling them, and about anything else with a engine... Doug D.(VA)

I work for IKON Office Solutions as a service Tech on Large Heildburg Digital Printers 110 pages a min. Been there 24 years ,Yes another old guy.
Like I mentioned in another post,I'm a Nuclear Fuel plant operator.Also was an expert concrete contractor/finisher.(Sorry if it sounds like I'm bragging here,but I worked many years forming and pouring concrete and delivering fuel for Sohio and Marathon in the winter to supplement the seasonal concrete work.)
Another old one. I have operated and mechaniced on dirt moveing equiptment the most of my life. Retiered from the MO Highway Dept 9 years ago as a field mechanic. Anything from crawler tractors to weed eaters.
Well,Tom,I'd say moped repair is a piece of cake to you compared with hoisting up tons of equipment so you can slide under it .I've got a large (AC 918) backhoe and I just HATE going under that thing even to change hydraulic filters or adjust brake linkage,so you've got MY respect.Also the grease! EEEuuuCCKK!!!

group of youngun's here eh? I run the machinery at a local mill and go to school to study "AutoCad so I dont have to run the machinery at a local mill .. I'm 43 and been a motorhead for as long as I can remember .. Oh Don, I WAS the operations manager of a nuclear facility for 6 years... way too much stress!!
Right,Rog! That's one reason I dabble in mopeding.It gives me a hobby that is not demanding but can be very challenging.I get a sense of peace when I'm tinkering on them,and a real sense of pride when the engine I'm changing or parts I'm replacing or repairing operate perfectly.You know,Rog,this bunch of cowards that killed those people at the WTC have made all nuclear employees' (at the 110 or so power plants in the U.S.,not to mention the fuel facilities) stress levels go up a notch.We had a threat the other day.As operations manager,I KNOW your stress level is one of the highest.Nice talking with you sir!

I manage a small IT company (15 employees) that writes industrial software. Most of our applications are for the operation and maintenance of nuclear power plants.
While the people working for me drive their newly purchased vehicles to work,, my newly refurbished ped is proudly parked in the parking lot!
Well it looks like the group breaks down into young guys, and old farts. I'm afraid I am moving into the old farts column (36) computer programmer
Don not much use for the 3/4 drive sockets or the 4 lb hammer, but I can pick it up and set it on the bench to get to things.
So, Don, you do the same job as Homer Simpson?
Have you ever forgot what you were doing and bring a fuel rod home?

Nah,SteelToad! 36 yrs.old is the prime of life and the toughest you'll ever be.These 22 yr.olds just don't know how much tougher they'll become when they enter their thirties.You know,the Hebrew male wasn't a full man `til he reached 30 yrs.old.And God knows best!
