anyone know what the spark plug gap should be on a minarelli v1?
in another thread, someone said approximately the width of a quarter. is that good enough?

Yes,anywhere from 24 to -26 thousandths of an inch.Run BOSCH.
doh, i have an ngk b5hs. i got it at a cycle/atv shop. guy had a book and looked up my ped. it said to use that one, but i read in another post here that someone was using a different ngk for a minarelli.
any problems with ngk?
oh well, i'll just have to order up a bosch sometime.
thanks.
don is right on about the gap. and recommending bosch. i only use bosch platinum (4214) in my moped. i get mine at auto zone. any auto parts store should carry them. if you have to go w/ something else, i know a champion L86C also works.
Hi,Guys! Speaking of plugs, I've been working on a Cosmo Colt lately and of course I always put in a fresh plug if there are problems. When I pulled the plug I saw it had a plug for a Minarelli in it and it's a 2-speed Franco-Morini which takes a long-threaded plug.So I'd been trying to get it running well with a spark plug that wasn't extending out of the head's threads.Besides that I had to tear it down `cause it was idling real high with no power.Found a whale of an air leak at the jug's base.Put her back together and she's runnin' great! Still doesn't have the rpm gain of the Minarelli, though.Wish Minarelli made a 2-speed.I think I'm gonna try advancing the timing some.

so, ngk is not good enough?
auto zone... yeah, i think there's one of those near me, but every time i go they're closed (5:30!).
i'll just have to order one when i get some parts from the moped junk yard.
thanks
No,I'm not sayin' NGKs are bad, just inferior in my experience and a lot of other folks' say the same.Miguel knows his Minarellis and spark plugs can REALLY make a dif in the performance. To me,it seems like 2-strokes are twice as sensitive to a weak plug as 4-strokes.The Bosch,IMHO,is better in my Franco-Morinis also.I'm surprised at your Auto-Zone.In our area they are open `til 9:00 p.m.until bad weather. Then it's 8 p.m..
yep, all the plugs are pretty much the same. but ... the bosch platinum can catch a spark much better (because it's platinum). and since these are (for the most part) old old bikes and may not be timed to perfection, the bosch platinum ensures you get a good spark regardless. but the moped should run on any spark plug. but we here in kzoo found that the platinum's will get you an extra 1-2mph and last longer.
