Racing Camino

Anthony Tod /

Hi All,

See there area few camino posts about here, so I thought I would add my own.

We have this year competed in the moped mayhem race at the two BMF events at peterborough in the UK in the 50cc stepthrough class on a honda camino.

We chose this bike because a friend had the bits for two of them under his shelves in his workshop.

From a 20mph duffer, we now have a 45 mph freak that handles the speedway circuit with tyre chicanes really well.

This post is just to see who is out there that has made real modifications to these bikes and is interested in what we have done.

The attached image is of some of the modifications we made, just before the last race.

It now has chunky tyres, lightened clutch and a few other things that are not in this image.

In a few days I will post a couple of mpegs of the race and the bike in full race trim.

65 idiots on the start line on different moped hybrids is quite a site!

Re: Racing Camino

that's sweet.

do let me know what you've done to her.

Re: Racing Camino

Heck yeah! Anthony... post anything and everything about what you've done to it.

Pics would be nice too.

I'd like to see the pipe.

Over here they were called PA50I's and PA50II's... I think they are almost the same.

Hi all,

Here is the first of the pictures I said about from the BMF moped race at the tail end show.

Ours is the silver framed (was supposed to be chromed, but came back zinced!) camino with the red petrol tank. The rider is wearing a white open face helmet.

All engine mod parts came from www.50cc.nl in Holland, very cheap compared to the UK.

Also lots of home modifications, drilled carb, lightened weigths for optimum gear change point on power curve (yes we have dyno'd it!) and anything unecassary removed.

Anyway, hope you like the pics, I will post 3 pics an 3 mpegs in total, but I have loads.

Anthony Tod /

Hi all,

Well I will leave it at that, I have 30 Megs worth, but I don't want to break the back of the host!

Hope you enjoy them, any comments welcome.

Awesome! That looks like so much fun. I think I'm gonna do something with that old puch maxi 2 speed I've got in the garage...

Re: And the last mpeg

that's just too awesome! wow.

Re: Racing Camino

I love it !

We don't have any real 'moped' races around.

Quite a few motorcycle races though.

That looks like a Speedway track (with chicanes added).

It looks like you were either 1st or 2nd in the mpegs...amazing considering how slow a PA50 is stock.

Hi guys,

Bear in mind there are 65 bikes on the track at the same time from the three classes two stroke step through, two stroke sports and four stroke.

It is indeed a speedway track which lens itself to some good sideways action.

Each race is 1 hour + long, so position in the shot is not indicative of position in the race, it comes down to number laps, you do get to change rider whenever you wish, which is a good chance to unclog the cooling fins and whip out the spark plug. Also I have 'ahem' selected the mpegs that put us in the best light, call it editorial perogitive.

I think we came about 21 overall on the last weekend, which seeing as we are in the slowest class is pretty good, not sure about our overall position in our class yet, as they messed up the points, have to wait until they sort it out to know, but results will be available on the BMF site at www.bmf.co.uk at some point.
