Look through this post, or do a search on "stereo" "moped stereo" or whatever using the search function on this forum.Be sure to change the "last 30 days" box to "all dates"
do you have a 12volt system? if so, which you mostlikey do, its easy. just splice the "constant power" wire and "ignition" wire together. connect them to a possitive "+" power source (headlight wire will work before and after the switch) and your "ground" wire needs to go to a negitive "-" power source. remember if you do it after the switch, the light will need to be on for the sterio to work but if before the switch, itll always work. if you dont have a battery, you cant keep the time but itll work when the ped is running or you can make a memory cell out of a 9volt batt. just splice that in positive to "constant" and neg to "ground". if you do have a battery, you might want to make a switch on the "ignition" wire to keep the battery from diein'. the rest is just speaker (or even an amp!) connections. if your not sure of the polarity ( + or - ) of the wire on the ped try to find out. light colored wires (yellow, white, red,) are usualy postive and darker ones (greeen, dark blue, black) are usualy neg.

I think you'll fry the ped's electrical system trying to run a stereo from it. most peds have no battery-- I'd caution anyone about linking the ped electrical to an add-on stereo.

You are probably wrong, in typical wierd French fashion, the power coils on my Motobecane are shorted out by the switches when lights are off so they must be capable of supplying only a finite amount of current.
Hooking up a 12 volt AC power source to a DC radio, now that's another story....

I think there's a communication breakdown here-- I think we are saying the same thing.
1. many mopeds are 6v, and won't power 12v stuff.
2. I've personally tested two of my mopeds-- I disconnected the stock horn and replaced it with an air horn compressor. the moped power was unable to generate enough amps power it.
3. most mopeds will dim at stop lights at night. not enough juice. that doesn't happen in a car though, battery is larger, alternator etc.
4. To verify, you can try to power something like an automobile blower fan or power window motor. Your moped (chances are) will not be able to power those devices.
5. many mopeds don't have a battery. People who build deluxe car stereos add an extra battery. A moped with no battery will not be able to have any 'reserve' power to hit bass spikes or your horn.
I doubt like heck if you could power a stereo from a moped. If anyone can, I'd be impressed.

You are right, we have a communication breakdown. My two points were that. one, you would not fry the ped's electrical system, even if you shorted it out, and two, that hooking up a 12 volt DC radio to a 12 volt AC electrical system would almost certainly fry the radio.
I was being slightly facetious in my post, as I don't think a ped has enough power to run a radio either, but the AC power to a DC radio is the more fatal problem.
