For the fun and good times!

Hi,everybody! Well,I've just had such a good time this week I've got to tell SOMEBODY! First off,I got off 12 hr.nightshift on Monday, and I felt pretty good,so when I got home I told Linda ` I'm going for an `all day' moped ride, honey'.She said I needed my sleep, but I told her that if I got sleepy,I'd just curl up on a mossy bank somewhere in the country.I left about 9:30 that morning and traveled up around the South central part of Ohio above Londonderry and over to Old Man's Cave and Lake Logan area.Man,did I cover the ground! But not in a hurry.I traveled up to Tar Hollow State Park and rode all over that place, except for some truly steep hills.Years ago, about 1978,I had poured a shelterhouse floor at Tar Hollow and I pulled my `ped right up to it and looked at it.Still a good concrete slab after all those years! Pretty satisfying.I still remember being worried fearfully when I poured it because they were adding this area on and piles of Rattlesnake infested treetops were laying everywhere.WHEW! Anyway, I stopped on a bridge later on a county road where some private person had put a sign up that said `NO STOPPING ON BRIDGE'. WELL! My tax money pays for that county road so I pulled up on the bridge and stopped! I gazed over into the creek below and you shoulda' seen the lunker fish in that creek! One dozen fish over 2' long at least ! It was a great day and I got home around 11:00 P.M. . The MOTOMARINA Minarelli purred all day.I traveled 115 miles and wasn't even sore the next day.Also,Thurs.night I went for a more local 40 mi. trip and did a 30 miler last night after work.I'm lovin' it! Happy `pedding !!!!

You mean these things are for riding and enjoying?

Damn that explains why it makes such a poor TV stand...

;)

Re: For the fun and good times!

Wow,Jamie !! I never thought about making furniture out of one! I've got an old SACHS that just might make a good lampstand,if I can find bulbs for it,that is.

Well the tricky part when you use em for a lamp is venting the gasoline fumes... not to mention trying to read by a 6 volt tail light bulb! ;)

Re: For the fun and good times!

Oh,well! Guess I'll just ride it around the living room ,then!

You know you have a laziness problem however when you take your moped just to get a beer from the fridge ;)

Ah well, so long as you remember to signal before turning into the bathroom!

Re: For the fun and good times!

Could you get a DWI in your own house,I wonder. But seriously now,has anyone out there taken a good trip lately? This is what I want to hear about. You Gurus aren't letting everybody's problems keep you from `pedding around, are you?

Re: For the fun and good times!

Hey Don-Ohio

I was camping in Tar Hollow central Ohio last fall on the way to

the east coast(in a car). It's a nice park. I remember entering at dark from the wrong side of the park, driving forever and wondering where the hell i was lol! Leaves were just starting to turn and weather cool. I might have taken some roofing off a cabin they were tearing down for my campfire near where you worked. I read on a stone plaque there where the "tar" from tar hollow was harvested to grease old wagon axles; kinda makes you think of the next step in wheel technology we all love...

Re: For the fun and good times!

Yeah,Rick! Tar Hollow Campground was built in the 1960s by Engel construction among others. My big brother worked for them as a teenager and he used to come home talkin' about the copperheads and rattlesnakes he saw everywhere. So I was leary when I was called to pour that concrete! But I'm not afraid of snakes if I can see them. What worried me that day was the piles of brush lay right against the concrete forms and here I am crawling around on my kneeboards BACKWARDS.See why I was worried? But that is a beautiful place in the fall or summer. And what a great area to ride a moped around! BYE!

Re: For the fun and good times!

if you really wanted something to ride in your house or to use as a lamp tomos makes an electric moped. You might be able to get full speed for the living room to the kitchen.

Re: For the fun and good times!

hmmm... my last good trip was into the sticks. far far far into the sticks. i ended up in some town i didn't even know existed, while trying to find my friend's party... it was crazy. i used to listen to music when i rode via headphones... i know, bad idea. but anyways, i rode for at least 3 & a half hours straight that day. so much fun. lately though, i just got an open-faced helmet... so so SO much better to ride in. you can feel the air on your face much easier... and, they look cooler. :-) so yeah. anyways, i rode for 3.5 hours, to find out i pretty much went the wrong way, so i had to turn around and ride for another hour just to get back to where i needed to start. i didn't mind though. i was having a blast...

then, another time, just recently, i woke up really early for work, and i came on here, reading about everyone's love for mopeds and stuff... it came time to leave, and as i hopped on the 'ped, i couldn't stop smiling. even though work is only 45 mins. away, i had the time of my life. i couldn't stoop laughing and smiling and having a great time. i don't know what it was, but something made me incredibly happy. the sun was shining, it was nice and warm, no jacket or sweatshirt required, perfect mopedding weather... it was awesome. it's weird though, that's how it happens w/ me. just random days i get incredibly pumped by riding my moped. it's got to be ther best feeling in the world.

-Mike

Re: For the fun and good times!

Hey great story, Don!

My question is, did you go all that way without making a gas stop?

Re: For the fun and good times!

Hi,Peggy! I have a Top-tank MOTOMARINA and they hold a good bit over 2 gallons.Ain't that great! THANKS,Peggy, for the compliment, but just like Mike,I just have so much fun riding I can't hardly stop.I just bought some parts bikes and parts off of Scott H.(Huvz is his handle)and I try to buy bikes that have top-tanks cause they generally hold more fuel.He sold me a top-tank set-up for my `78 Batavus Starflite and Cosmo and Motomarina parts bikes.BYE!
