Don't like electricity

I like grease, oil, gas, kerosene, but i don't like electricity.

Does anyone know if a brake light on a moped must be 6 volts?

Can you get them in dual filament bright/not bright @ 6 volts?

Will 12 volt #1267 work?

After pedalling and pedalling in 90% humidity (disconnecting everything along the way) i found out my spark plug is connected to a winky dink rear light. Why is it designed this way?

Also, don't mix car parts with moped parts (exhaust systems, carburators); i just got done replacing a dead brake light in my car, and somehow put it in the moped. Thanks.

Rick,

You must have one of these peds where the ignition quits when your tail light is out.

You must use a 6v bulb if the original was 6v. Auto parts stores do sell a 6v stop/tail lamp, a lot of old tractors still use them.

Re: 6 volt bulbs

You can also check an import auto parts store to see if tehy carry the 6V bulbs for the old VWs prior to 1967. I also have found 6V & 24V bulbs at surplus store that carried some ex-military electronics.

Re: 6 volt bulbs

I had a heck of a time with the ingnition on my Derbi moped and it turned out that the local moped shop had put in 12 volt bulbs and that was causing all of the problems. I just ordered a complete set of the right bulbs from www.mopedwarehouse.com

Re: 6 volt bulbs

Does anybody else have the problem of when you dont have a battery(bike doesnt use one) and you brake the brake light turns on but drains your headlamp and the turnsignals and the horn. This is on an Avanti Supersport(Tanktop)

Sean,

Some peds use a separate coil for head/tail lamps and horn/brake lamps. If you have a wiring diagram, check that someone has not mis-wired it. The only other thig that seems probable is that you have a too high wattage brake lamp bulb.

Re: 6 volt bulbs

Its the lights and stuff that came with the bike.

Sean,

Brand new from the factory or used?
