In my State (IL) my Kinetic moped is classified as a scooter--(see Ron's post about what defines a moped vs. a scooter). There are many people who have scooters who come to this forum, and it doesn't matter to most of us. I'm not biased against scooters although I prefer mopeds. It's probably a lot easier to pedal home a moped than push a scooter home...mostly, I like mopeds better because I can't drive a scooter--I must be some kind of klutz because I cannot balance those things. I feel like I'm going to fall over, and I can't seem to control them.
I don't particularly care for the pedals on my moped--there should be a way to fold them up so they're not in the way while riding. Many times when I stop and put my feet down, I bang into those darn pedals!
Anyway, don't worry about the scooter vs moped "controversy"--if you could call it that--we're all pretty much in the same boat--cars don't respect us, and most people are jealous who don't own either type.
