Try tightening the other rear axle nut then loosen the one you say is stuck. The rear axle is not held on by anything except the axle nuts, sometimes you have to loosen them in stages to get both of them off. I'd have to see the drive unit to be able to tell you how to take your speedometer cable off, usually it's just a knurled nut that's over the cable.
