I doubt they exist, but does ANYONE know of a 60cc or 70cc bore kite that would work on a Batavus LauraM48 engine. Even if a little creative machining was needed, that would be okay. I have got to get some more useable low end power for my Bat. 0 to 10 in 100 feet really sucks!!! This is where being the big guy isn't good.

I haven't seen a bore kit yet but Brian has put a bi-turbo exhaust on a Bat.
Yeah.. he was saying that he was rather disappointed witht he results though. Only saw 3mph gain for all that work. If anyone will get it to work, it'll be him. I'm at a point now where I have to think about shelving my Bat for a while and getting something else, 'cause it accelerates soooo sllooowwwllllyyy it's getting dangerous. Seriously, from adead stop at a light , on a flat, level, smooth road, I have to keep my foot scraping the ground for balance for at least 100 feet before I have enough speed that it'll balance well. I still see 35mph. It just takes a helluva long time to get there. And to make matters worse, every route I use to get to work is at least a 60kmh road so I can't afford to loose any top speed.

check your timing, my bat only hit like 30, and i had to peddle to accelerate, i checked the points and u could hardly tell the difference between open and closed, after i fixed them it runs sweet, no more peddling for me!
What did you set the point gap and dwell to? My Bat runs great and starts like a dream. It just has NO bottom end!!!
I am now looking into getting a replacement engine that is all up to specs. I'll take the old one to a performace engine shop and see what I can do to it. Heh, heh, heh.

No, I haven't shaved it ......yet! I tracked down a place that specializes in small 2 stroke modifications for dirk bikes. I talked to the guy about what I want to try doing to the engine, and he seems quite interested. He said he'd take it as a personal challenge to increase the horsepower by at least half, if not 100%. I'm getting a replacement engine (to solve my clutch problems...it's actually cheaper this way...go figure) so I thought "what the hell". Let's see what I can get out of it.

That's the spirit. It's great when you can find someone with knowledge eager to try various things to make a faster Bat. There is no ryhme or reason to tinker with a moped and I think that's what intriged me to get involved in this hobby and see what the limits are on my project Bat. I like to think of it as Hot Rodding for poor people. It gets in your blood and evenually goes to your heart.
You don't know how happy I am for you that you found a 2 cycle mechanic that loves to tinker. Some of my friends are mechanics and they got involed with mopeds as a way to unwind and have fun in the shop after hours. One guy has about a 20 Bat junkyard for parts and has 4 Bats that run. (Don't ask for parts because we need them ourselves) One Bat looks like a drag bike after the frame chopping was done. Although you have to get a running start and jump on this Bat it will give you a ride in the 60's as it slowly winds up on a flat road. Another one if his Bats is a black 76 VA fully restored to it's original condition.
They've thrown around ideas such as stroker packages, bigger bore packages, and radical port timings. Some have come to fruit while others are still in the dream column.
