I am considering buying a Hero Majestic Moped model Ankur. It looks like it will cost around $700. I originally spotted it on http://www.handybikes.com. I am not sure if that is a fair price and if it is worth it. If anybody knows anything about that model please let me know what you think of it. Otherwise I am looking for a used moped. I go to school at Western so I am hoping to ride with the Moped Army in the fall if I get one. Thanks for all your help.
If Western is in London Ontario Canada you might have a hard time finding a Hero Ankur Moped. They're only availble in the US and bringing it over the border to Canada is going to make that $700 moped become a lot more than you bargained for. Try the Tri-ad to find a moped. It covers Southwestern Ontario and is free to advertise in.
A bit much, I think....Not sure I have blue book on that, but it would also depend on the year and mileage.

Hi,Matt! The only thing I'd be aware of is if it has a variable tranny or not,and I don't think it has.If you go with a single-speed moped,you sacrifice a lot of exploring on hilly terrain,especially if you're a big guy. B.J. also has the Gizmo and some others with different trannys so check it out with him.Are you in Ohio? And Ree,did you think he was talking about a used `ped? These are new Ankurs(tax and title) for about 700.00. I own a 1995 Ankur with 70 miles on it,but it has the smallish carb and intake,so B.J. fixed me up with bigger carb,intake, and exhaust manifold.See ya!

$700 for a new-outta-box ? Jump on that puppy, man - the only new ped cheaper than that's a Kinetic, so it's a good deal, sure.

Thanks for the advice, I am in Michigan so I would be driving down to pick it up. Does anyone know the top speed that I can expect? Looking on the webpage, I don't see any noticeable differences between the Ankur and the Gizmo. Thanks again.

Hi,Matt! I'm tellin' you there is a difference in the performance of the two,and of course,the price.Also,in Ohio,the Gizmo may not be considered a true moped,so watch your P's and Q's.You don't want to have to get a motorcycle endorsement unless you have to.It seems to me that the HERO-MAJESTIC PACER might be a little better than the Ankur and still be considered a moped,but I'm not for certain on that.The ANKUR is pedal start,unless they've changed it.I'll bet the Gizmo is a kick start.BYE!
Forgot to mention: A fellow I know who has a 2000 model Ankur swears it hits 40mph,and who am I to doubt his word?BYE!
I dont think its a fair price, , for $700 you could get a DAX-70 4stroke motorcycle, with electrical system and so on. The Ankur is fine for me, it gets me at maximun 50km/h and its very nice (i think i'm the onlyone in my whole country that has one)
Btw, it costed me $300, second hand, 0kms (stored for more than 10 years , but it works perfect)
Havve been running it for 300kms with a little more than 1 gallon of gas-6oz of oil.
I'll take a picture of me on it soon
Next time look at the date before bumping a post...
