I've read on a couple of sites that the laura M-48 engine by Batavus is supposed to be mixed at 50:1, and i was wondering what you other Batavus owners mixed your oil at, thanx

My Ex runs hers at 43:1 cause that's 3oz to the gallon and saves hassle measuring.

I'm with Ree. Mine has a sticker saying 50:1 but I use 3 oz/gallon for Batavus and Motobecane.
Ron
WOW....This is news to me. My Batavus manual says 20:1 during break-in and 25:1 thereafter. I thought it sounded a little high but she doesn't smoke so I figured it'd be fine.
Richard
Richard,
What year, nodel and engine?
Ron
I run at 2.5oz per gallon. That's pretty close, and doesn't bog me down like 3oz does. Anywhere between 2.5 and 3 is good though.
It's a 1975 Batavus HS-50 with a Laura M48 engine.
Richard
Richard,
Mine is a 1977 Batavus Starflight with a Laura M48-11B engine. There is an original sticker on the tank that says use 50:1.
Maybe they figured out that the newer oils were ok at this mix.
Ron
what ratio is 2.5 oz to the gallon, i mix it in a container that measures litres
Shmiver,
My 2 cycle oil bottle tells me 2.6 oz = 50:1 do I guess Simon is a little light on his oil.
There are 128 oz in a US gallon, in case you want to do the math.
Ron
Hi! Mine says 2% right on the tank, but 40:1 has never failed me.BUT,during break-in a 25:1 would be O.K..And during break-in,don't use synthetic oil for at least 300 miles. It may prevent the rings from seating because of its superior lubricating qualities. It's the same reason you don't put teflon additives or STP in a new car's engine until the break-in period is over.Says so right in the manuals!BYE!
