Motobecane Carb dumping too much fuel.... Help!!!!

Ray Sanders /

Hey, all.... long time no whine :-)

A couple of days ago, my motobecane died on me about halfway to work,

and fresh gas, and a new plug later will not "catch" I can keep the engine barely runnning as long as I'm pedaling the bike, but it will not start running on it's own power.

I noticed that it seems as if the carb is dumping too much gas into the throttle body.

Is there a float adjustment or something that I can do to cut down on the amount of fuel going to the jet?

The bike is a blast to ride when it runs, and I really hate to have to shelf it, but it's been one thing after another and it seems the bike is just fragile these days.

Any suggestions are welcome, and I'm currently pricing out a new carb and speedometer.

Thanks!

Ray,

There is no float adjustment but dirt can cause the neadle and seat to leak.

Check the color of your spark plug. Normally, a mixture rich enough to require pedalling to keep the ped running would foul the plug immediately.

Check that your spark is blue and fat too.

my motobecane cady is the same. starts cold perfect first or second pedal rotation but the longer I drive it the wors the power gets. and after riding it it always leaks fuel on ground even when fuel is off. (allthough the stock petcock don't stop the fuel) and it is on air filter/box too. idk if it is from airbox or carb gaskets but it four strokes everyone when riding. seems like too much fuel and spark plug is black and im running 50:1 amsoil interceptor oil

Cady has a AR1 serie carb. Here is cleaning tips for Gurtner carbs.

You need to have the float needle very clean so it shuts the fuel and prevents flooding.

This is the banjo fitting petcock you need for the Cady

I just bought that hoping it will work. I don't mind if it is not the stock style valve

Re: Motobecane Carb dumping too much fuel.... Help!!!!

Cady needs the 8mm valve, the 50L needs the 10mm valve
