6V to 12V conversion

Has anyone attempted to convert a 6V system to 12V? The hardest thing would have to be changing the winding in the block.

Then convert all the other stuff, coil, ignition, etc. to Tomos.

I've done it...but yeah..it ain't easy...I just changed out the whole damn ignition set, coil and all, and went to a 3-wire system...Hot lead right to the equipment...ground to the frame, and ignition coil lead out...so it's more sorta two wires.

Try changing out the ignition set.

What moped are you tryin to convert ? cause I could be more help if I knew.

Puch Magnum II. There are a ton more options in 12V than in 6V.

Nick, a lotta Tomos parts cross over to Puch...I would see about pulling the whole Puch ignition set and putting a Tomos CDI on there - but I dunno exactly how feasible that is without looking at it...in theory it should work, tho.

Once you can pull that off, the rest of it's pretty simple.

Dave, I dunno too much about Morini - but if the engines ignition is the same size as one with a 12V system, you could give it a go - I'd reccommend against this mod, for either of ya - unless you really know what yer doing and can afford the mistakes that are possible during.
