"was anyone else afraid when they first jumped on a moped? I dunno im a anxious person as it is but going 30miles per hour with nothing around me kinda freeks me out. and it didnt help when i came around a corner and hit a patch of sand and almost fell but luckily iwas able to get my foot planted first..... so any ideas on how to get over the fear besides ""just ride you'll get over it"" cause im gonna keep riding but id like to not be deathly afraid of falling off."

"The scariest thing for me was getting adjusted to the turning...I was scared to ""lean"" into my turns and it felt like a brick when trying to turn while forcing to try to stay upright.....after I got that down.....I got used to it.....Going at high speeds with nothing around me doesn't really bother me cause after about 4 days...I still feel like I can actually run faster then my moped goes......"

"practice makes perfect, just keep at it. if you fall, you probably wont be that hurt. i have crashed a bunch of times, and you usually only get road rash.<p><br>: was anyone else afraid when they first jumped on a moped? My best advice is this:<br>1) get into a car<br>2) actually go 30 mph <br>3) see how slow you are actually going. it is actually not that fast.<br>4) jump out of the moving car<br>5) seek therapy<p><br>

Re: this may sound lame but....

hmm. don't remember being afraid. my moped will stall if it goes that slow.<br>

"Try driving real slow in an open field (if you can find one:), then progressively increase the speed; speed isn't noticable so much in wide open space. Try driving 50 mph through a one way street with parked cars on each side in a crowded city and you'll know what I mean:)<p>"
