"I have heard this ...<br>Classic mopeds of the '70s were made for leaded gas which is no longer available. Today's unleaded fuel contains many additives, oxidisers and other octane stabilisers in lieu of lead that - combined with the spark plug of the wrong heatrange - will foul up the ignition timing. Use regular gas (no premium), and mix it only with special, 100% synthetic 2-stroke oil (like RedLine). As for plugs, most classic mopeds will run well with the BR6HS spark plug from NGK.<p>Also, all documentation I have read, including original manufacturers manual states that 25 parts petrol to 1 part oil (25:1), or 1/3 pint to the gallon.<br>"
