The word pedal comes from the Latin (Pes, Pedis) and relates to the foot.
A pedal is a lever activated by one's foot. These devices are attached to a crank and powered by one's feet to promote locomotion. Pedals are commonly found on bicycles, tricycles, Big Wheels, and mopeds.
