Kromag was a Austrian metal company that worked with Puch to produce step-thru style mopeds such as the Sears Free Spirit and the JCPenney Pinto. The full name of the company was Kromag Metallindustrie AG and they primarily focused on the manufacture of steel wheels. The name Kromag is a portmanteau of chrome and magnesium referring to chrome and "mag" wheels.

The company was bought out by the automotive alloy wheel distributor Alcar and integration into the current company called Kromag Metallindustrie GmbH, which now technically this is not the same Kromag that made mopeds.
