Userboxes are small colored boxes designed to appear on user pages. They may include one or two small graphics and a few short lines of text. Userboxes are generally created as templates and put onto userpages. Userboxes should not be used in articles.

Using Userboxes

Some guidelines for userboxes:

1. Userboxes should ONLY be included on userpages. Do not put them in articles.
2. Do not put userboxes on other people's userpages. If you'd like to use them, put them on your page.

How-to:

• Userboxes are linked the same way templates are: {{name of userbox}}
• For example, if you would like to add the Puch userbox to your userpage, you would type: {{User Puch}}
• A list of all userboxes can be found below.

Making Userboxes

Userboxes are created just like any other template. However, they must be prefaced with "user." For example, you could search for "Template:User Beer Is Tasty" if you wanted to make a userbox for people who think beer is tasty. (Note how it says "User" before "Beer Is Tasty").

If you have an idea for a userbox, you can use the following guide to make it, or you can post your idea here on the talk page and someone will make it for you.

Userbox parameters

There are a number of box types to select from when deciding to make a userbox. The most commonly used design is the "Standard box". It has one square shaped area on the left ("id") and a rectangular area on the right ("info").

For ease of use, userboxes are made using maker-templates that have a number of parameters. Once the maker-template is saved, it is automatically transformed to HTML.

The id and info boxes can include text, links, and images using the usual Wikipedia syntax. Generally, the id box will contain a few letters or a 43px image, while the info box will contain a sentence with a link or two.
