Well, I bought my first moped actually for my father as a father's day gift. It was a 1977 Sachs Columbia Commuter. My Mom, Dad, and Sister all loved it, but I ended up loving it the most. I rode it all the time, it was a blast. It never really had a significant problem, so I didn't learn too much about repairing mopeds from it. Now I have a Tomos 2002 Targa LX that I just bought for myself after selling the Sachs moped for my Dad after he got a motorcycle (which he is selling now too, since he is no longer into motorized bikes and stuff). It runs but has a couple of problems, but I'm really excited about it getting it ready for the road. I definitely know very little about mopeds, but I am hoping to learn a lot more, and possibly make mopeds a bigger hobby of mine.
