Rachid - I'm planning on using the regular starting mechanism, like what Cooper did with the BRN clutch set up he posted earlier. I'm going to attach friction material to the sides of the KTM arms for the starting plate to grab against.
I don't know, removing more material, especially from the side walls of the bell would make me a bit nervous. Think about the centrifugal force pulling everything outward. I don't think the aluminum ring, attached just with 6 set screws is going to hold back the steel bell from wanting to expand. If I were welding in a steel ring maybe.
Ricky - I don't know, 10 bucks? If you're making a pull start though why don't you just use a KTM bell? It would be so much lighter. The main reason for doing this is so that you can use the rest of the stock transmission w/ the starting mechanism.
