V1 Exhaust Porting Fail? Shaw input please?
So I finally got the nerve to deal with what I thought was the worst part of the polini kit for the Minarelli V1, the exhaust port. Its so freaking small compared to pipe inlets. I already opened up the intake a year ago when I built it. This bike has been all over the place with speed, 54.2 when I first got it dialed in, now around 50 with all of its age and heavy forks and disks. If you look at the image links below I increased the outside opening greatly to match my gasket. The inside I widened about 2.5mm on each side, only the sides... Put it all back together, but since I mangled the head gasket I assembled it without it, no probs since I have plenty of squish left over. Take it out for a ride with the GPS, lo and behold I cant break 44.2 ?!? I work with the jetting some, up is bad, down is better, but still 44? come on. I run a high comp head and am curious if the extra compression due to the removal of the gasket is keeping me out of the higher rpms? It doesn't seem to me what I did would be detrimental to my setup... sigh
