if you can, i think you should try to find one of the newer express engines, either the two-speed or the variated one, for more tuning options and reliability. even though a 2-speed transmission sounds like it would be worse, they are pretty much equally as reliable as the one-speed if they arent abused, plus the newer engines use a wheel with a bigger hub for better stopping. i replaced the brakes in my express two years ago and i can still completely lock the thing up if i pull the brakes in all the way. insane stopping power, best of any bike ive ever owned probably.
