Moped Army

This just started happening around a month ago. I put in a tank of gas, I only get around 5 to 7 miles and my tank is basically empty. I think that since my ped is a '76 it burns quick but there is something else going on. And also, it takes forever for my ped to start up and when it does, around 8 ounces of fuel comes up. Can you please tell me what i can do to fix this and why this is occuring.
